For a while, the house on Esplanade shared by Alan and Christine and Ron and Martha was also shared by Pallo Jordan, then a South African exile studying at the University of Wisconsin; Pallo believed it was time to leave the US. Eventually, Pallo decided to move to London rather than stay in Canada. Today, Pallo is Minister of Culture in South Africa.
